Trump Says He Didn't Ask Shanahan To Withdraw
Reuters reports U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he did not ask Patrick Shanahan, the former acting defense secretary, to withdraw from consideration to be confirmed as defense chief. Early on Tuesday, media reports spread related to domestic violence allegations surrounding Shanahan and his family. Trump told reporters that he was unaware of the allegations until Monday. The president added that his administration had a thorough vetting process for all of its nominees.
