McConnell Wants A Confirmed Defense Chief
Reuters reports U.S. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that it would be better to have a Senate-confirmed defense secretary than someone serving in an acting capacity. He cited tensions between the United States and Iran as his concern. McConnell made the comment to reporters following the news that Patrick Shanahan, the acting defense secretary, withdrew from consideration to be confirmed as permanent defense chief.
